VCA Central Kitsap Animal Hospital

Photographing a Vet, Without Stopping It

Director / Producer / Photographer

Scope of Work

I planned and ran the entire shoot: a 30-plus person team photographed inside a fully operational animal hospital. I built the shot plan, directed every setup, and captured the full-team group shots plus individual headshots. When surgeries started mid-shoot, I adapted on the fly, moving staff through in waves around live procedures and active patient care so the hospital never slowed down. I owned the production from planning through delivery.

The Challenge

VCA Central Kitsap needed professional photography of its entire team: full-team group shots plus an individual headshot for their veterinarians. The catch was that the hospital never stops. The shoot had to happen inside a live, fully operational facility, with thirty-plus people who couldn't all step away at once, and surgeries that could start at any moment. This was a logistics problem as much as a photography one.

My Approach

We started straightforward, working through the team efficiently. Then surgeries began, and the shoot had to bend around live patient care without losing momentum. I adapted in real time, moving staff through in waves so no department was ever left uncovered and no procedure was interrupted, while keeping the pace tight enough to capture thirty-plus individual headshots and the full-team group shots in the window we had. The result was a complete, consistent set of brand photography, delivered without the hospital ever pausing care.
